Dr. Brianne Barker – Drew University
Meet Dr. Brianne Barker, an accomplished educator and researcher. Originally hailing from Camden, N.Y., she earned her B.S. degree from Duke University, majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry and history.
During her time at Duke, Dr. Barker conducted research under Dr. Barton Haynes, focusing on antibody responses to HIV vaccine candidates. She then pursued her Ph.D. in immunology at Harvard University, mentored by Dr. Norman Letvin. Her doctoral work explored cytokine control of CD8+ T cell memory.
Following her Ph.D., Dr. Barker continued her postdoctoral training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill under Dr. Jenny Ting. There, she contributed to pattern recognition receptor signaling research at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center/Department of Microbiology and Immunology.
In 2013, Dr. Barker began her teaching journey as a visiting assistant professor at Hamilton College. Later, she joined Drew University’s biology faculty, enriching the academic community with her expertise.
Beyond academia, Dr. Barker finds joy in crafting delectable desserts and passionately following Duke basketball. Her multifaceted background and dedication make her a valuable asset to both education and research.
